Temple University President Collapses, Dies Following Memorial Event
Temple University Acting President JoAnne A. Epps died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon, the university has announced. Epps was attending a memorial service at Temple when she "became ill," the university said in a statement. She was rushed to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 3:15 p.m., they said. The school year hasn't even begun yet in Philadelphia, but some schools are already prepping schedule changes due to extreme heat. Two high school seniors were found dead in a street in Pennsylvania, authorities announced on Monday. A woman was attacked and pinned down during an early-morning carjacking in Philadelphia on Sunday, Aug. 6, city police told Daily Voice. It happened on the 1500 block of Fontain Street a little after midnight, the department said.
