Major Mall-Based Chain With 21 PA Stores Closing 543 Locations After Filing For Bankruptcy
A major retailer primarily located in malls and headquartered in Pennsylvania is set to close all 543 of its stores following its third Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Closures for all rue21 locations are expected to be completed within the next two months with going-out-of-business sales coming soon. The company, headquartered in Pennsylvania outside Pittsburgh, had first filed for bankruptcy in 2003, and then for a second time in 2017, when it closed around 400 stores. 89-Year-Old Man Dies Days After Clothes Catch Fire Burning Brush At His PA Home: Coroner
An 89-year-old Pennsylvania man died of serious burns suffered while burning brush at his home last month, officials said. Leo C. Pavelco, of Slatington, was burning brush at his home when his clothing caught fire around 5 p.m. April 22, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said. Pavelco was hospitalized with burns covering 30.5% of his body, and died on May 3, just after 8 p.m., at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Buglio said.

Popular Apple Juice Brand Recalled Due To High Arsenic Levels
A recall has been issued for a popular brand of apple juice due to high levels of arsenic. S. Martinelli & Co. said the recall is for a single lot of Martinelli’s Apple Juice, one-liter (33.8-ounce) bottles. The recalled product has a “Best By” date of “09MAR2026” or “10MAR2026” on the front of the bottle above the label. The product was shipped between March 13, 2023, and September 27, 2023, with the majority of the product shipped before July 28, 2023. CASE: State Police Seek Tips In Media Girl's 1975 Disappearance
Authorities continue to investigate the 1975 disappearance of Wendy Eaton. Eaton was last seen on May 17 of that year near the intersection of Indian Lane and Media Station Road in Media, according to state police. According to a 2021 report by NBC Philadelphia, she was headed into town to buy a gift for her brother when she vanished. In 2021, PSP reportedly told NBC they believed the case was still solvable and that they now considered it a homicide. A Tullytown man will spend up to six years in prison for a Falls woman's 2021 overdose death, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said Friday, May 3. Steven Frederick Yard Jr., 32, pleaded guilty in January to involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, and related counts, prosecutors said. Authorities say Mary Coyle, 39, was found dead at 100 Yardley Avenue on Nov. 16, 2021. Yard was found "actively overdosing" on the floor nearby, according to the DA's Office. Crews Called To Overnight House Fire In Paoli
First responders rushed to the scene of a house fire in Paoli just after midnight Friday morning, May 3. The Paoli Fire Company said it happened on the second floor of a home on the 50 block of West Central Avenue. Firefighters were able to place the flames under control in just 20 minutes, officials said. One resident was evaluated by medics at the scene and declined to be taken to the hospital, they added. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office.

A man who was shot dead by a police officer inside a Central Pennsylvania nursing home has been identified and details leading up to his death have been released by the York County Coroner's and District Attorney Dave Sunday's offices on Friday afternoon. Group Comes Under Fire In Abington Park, Police Say
Authorities are investigating after a group of people were shot at in Abington's Crestmont Park. Police said it happened last Saturday, April 27 around 10:15 p.m. The shots missed the victims but damaged their vehicles, officials said. The shooters fled the park in a dark-colored sedan, according to police. "None of the individuals had any idea who would have targeted them for this attack," they noted. Suspect Sought For Stabbing Luzerne County Man In Chest: State Police
Troopers are looking for a man accused of stabbing a Freeland Borough resident in the chest. Authorities said Jahvile Davis-Boyd stabbed the victim at 317 Washington Street on Sept. 17, 2021. He is wanted for felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple assault, state police said. Anyone with information can call 1-800-472-8477 or submit a tip to PSP. Tips that lead to an arrest could result in a cash reward.

New York Woman Tried To Smuggle Drugs Into PA Prison, Troopers Say
A Bronx woman is in state police custody after authorities said she tried to bring drugs into a Pennsylvania prison. Natasha Santana, 42, was trying to get the drugs to an inmate at the State Correctional Facility Mahanoy in Frackville, PSP said in a release. She was arrested without incident, they added. Court records show Santana posted 10 percent of her $10,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 9.
