Bitteto Delivers for Pelham Baseball in 4-1 Win

PELHAM, N.Y. -- In the third inning of the Pelham-Dobbs Ferry varsity baseball game on Tuesday, the Eagles intentionally walked Dylan Tuttle, opting to pitch to Joe Bitteto.

The designated hitter made Dobbs Ferry pay for this by ripping a double into center field, scoring David Wright.

Two innings later, Dobbs Ferry again issued Tuttle a free pass in order to pitch to Bitteto again. Apparently, Dobbs Ferry did not learn a lesson as Bitteto delivered a single, scoring Wright, with the final run in a 4-1 Pelham victory at Glover Field.

Bitteto also drew a walk in his other at-bat. He and Wright each had two hits and two RBI.

“Joe has always been a good hitter,” winning pitcher Gjon Ljucovic said. “I guess they didn’t know about him because we were on JV last year. When Joe puts the bat on the ball, he hits it far.”
