PELHAM, N.Y. -- Six Pelham Memorial High School students were named the school's Athletes of the Week, the school announced.
The student-athletes honored were seniors Dan Dempsey, Ben Hurd and Gibson Smith; juniors Lorenzo Bertuccioli and Stefan Miklakos; and sophomore Claudia Dodge.
Dempsey, Bertuccioli and Dodge had outstanding performances at the winter track team’s meet on Dec. 11. Dempsey won the boys’ high jump, leaping 6 feet, 1 inches while Bertuccioli placed fourth in the long jump at 19 feet, 5.5 inches and third in the triple jump with 37 feet, 10 inches, according to a release from Pelham Public Schools.
Dodge came in third in the 600-meter run.
Hurd, Smith and Miklakos helped the varsity hockey team earn two victories over McQuaid Jesuit and Ithaca in the New York State Great 8 plus 1 tournament, the release said.
Hurd, a captain, scored five goals while Smith, also a captain, scored twice and had three assists. Miklakos added four assists for the Pelicans.
