Pelham Schools Begin Recruiting For Superintendent

PELHAM, N.Y. – Finding the right candidate to fill the shoes of the retiring Dennis Lauro is now the task of consulting firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates.

The firm presented findings about what characteristics residents want in their next superintendent during last week’s Pelham School Board meeting, after converseing with residents through a series of community forums. These include a person of good character, and one who communicates well.

The firm will now begin looking for candidates with the hope one will be selected by Jan. 1 the district said. The firm also will help prepare the board for interviews with the candidates.

Former Superintendent Charles Wilson will be interim superintendent until June 30,  following Lauro’s retirement Dec. 31.
