Pelham School Board to Hold Four Public Meetings

PELHAM, N.Y. – Pelham’s school board will host a series of town meetings to discuss the school budget with parents and any other interested residents.

The Pelham School District Board of Education has started to prepare for the 2012-2013 budget and decided to hold four meetings to explain the budget to the public and give residents a chance to respond and get involved, according to a press release from Angela Cox, public information officer for the Pelham School District.

At the meetings, President Bob Eicher and Vice President Marti Arden will explain the budget process, discuss the two percent state tax cap and its effect on the schools and seek feedback from the community about school policies and the future of the schools.

Cox said that Eicher came up with the idea to hold the meetings. The board discussed it and thought it would benefit the school district. Cox also said that many attendees at regular board meetings discuss the budget and the board wanted to open up the discussions to the general public.

The schedule for the meetings is as follows:

-          Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m., Richard J. Daronco Town House

-          Monday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m., Hutchinson Elementary School Library

-          Saturday, Dec. 10, 10:15 a.m., Pelham Public Library Community Room

-          Wednesday, Dec. 14, 7 – 8 p.m., M.A.D. Cafe
