The public session of the meeting is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. in the Middle School Library on the second floor of Pelham Middle High School (PMHS), 28 Franklin Place. in Pelham. It is anticipated that the board will meet at 7 p.m. and go immediately into executive session in the Superintendent's Conference Room before the public session.

There will be a budget hearing, which will include a final review of the items on the ballot on May 17:

  • The 2016-17 budget of $70,938,000, a 1.12 percent increase which is under the state mandated cap on the property tax levy;
  • A bond referendum not to exceed $3 million to replace electrical panels at PMHS and to renovate the men's and women's locker rooms at PMHS.

The funding for the renovations will result from the refunding of 2006 bonds, and the creation of a capital reserve fund not to exceed $1.5 million that can be funded over 15 years. Its purpose will be to fund general improvements related to the district's facilities including athletic field reconstruction, eventual turf field replacement, irrigation improvements, lighting improvements, asphalt, concrete stairs and sidewalks, fencing and/or other needs identified in the District Wide Athletic Field Master Plan; and a discussion about International Baccalaureate including reflections on year one and planning for the future.

In addition to Superintendent of Schools Peter Giarrizzo's report, the agenda includes updates from each school board committee, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Personnel Steven Garcia on 21st Century Learning and Professional Development, Rosemary Matthews on Networks of Support and Social-Emotional Development, and Assistant Superintendent for Business Angelo Rubio on Finances and Facilities.
