The property tax levy increased 1.234 percent, which falls below the New York State mandated 2 percent cap. The property tax rate is 58 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The homestead tax rate is 54.8 cents per $1,000 assessed valuation and the non-homestead rate 73.8 cents.
The budget shows estimated revenues up 8.466 percent and appropriations up 4.012 percent. Unexpended balances and appropriated reserves will total $550,000, compared to $543,000 in the 2012 budget.
The new budget uses $550,000 from the town’s reserves to keep the rate down.
The town budget covers the pensions, health care, and salaries of town employees, courts, department expenses, the town assessor, and receiver of taxes.
