Three Children Suffer Burns In Mount Vernon Apartment Fire

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Three children and a woman were injured early Saturday after a fire broke out in a Mount Vernon basement apartment, according to News 12.

The children suffered burns to their hands -- likely while holding onto the railings in the building's stairwell, according to News 12, which reported that the woman suffered smoke inhalation during the 4:30 a.m. blaze.

The victims were taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where they were treated for their injuries, according to News 12.

Officials said the fire at 60 E. Fourth Street was mostly contained to the one apartment, according to News 12, which said the cause of the blaze was under investigation.
