The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 37-year-old Jamall Cherry, who reported a move to Martens Place in Mount Vernon.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Cherry as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a "sexually violent offender."

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Cherry unlawfully imprisoned his 10-year-old victim and had sexual intercourse with her in February 2008. Cherry was convicted of first-degree sexual assault and sentenced to 66 months in state prison in September that year. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Mount Vernon City Police Department.
