Police: Wooden Pallet Thief Caught in the Act

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – Pelham Manor police said they stopped a theft in progress at the Fairway Market on Monday afternoon. Officers arrested a man and charged him with petit larceny. He allegedly tried to steal $23 worth of wooden pallets from Fairway Market, according to the police report. Workers at Fairway Market told police they saw the theft. Police said they searched the area and found the suspect on a bridge that leads into Mount Vernon trying to move the pallets on a shopping cart. Fairway Market security arrived and identified both the man and the stolen goods. Officers arrested the man, transported him to headquarters and returned the pallets to Fairway Market. Also on the blotter: - A man told police Monday that his car had been stolen. The man said he left town on Thursday and went to Montauk for the weekend. When he returned on Monday, he noticed the car missing at approximately 3 p.m. The case is pending investigation.
