PELHAM, N.Y. Longtime Pelham resident Richie Bell and others gave a glowing review to the Village of Pelham Department of Public Works (DPW) for its leaf pickup so far this year.
The DPW began loose leaf collection on Saturday, Oct. 15 and will continue to do so until Thursday, Dec. 15. Bell, who has lived in Pelham his entire life, said the village has done an excellent job with the collection.
They did a good job at the house and on the street, Bell said. I had two barrels full.
Bell praised the DPW foreman, Michael Shriman, for the efficiency of the loose leaf collection. Bell added that the village has a history of exceptional service in that regard.
The village picks up the garbage in Bells neighborhood on Mondays. The DPW picks up the leaves during its organic waste collection, which occurs on Mondays and Tuesdays, according to the Village of Pelhams sanitation calendar posted on the governments website.
Bell was not the only person to praise the department. Bryan Carroll posted on The Daily Pelham Facebook page and said the collection has gone smoothly: It always does, he said about the leaf collection. We have one of the best highway departments around.
