PELHAM, N.Y. It's never a good idea to double park in Pelham, especially when you are just running in to rob a liquor store.
A Pelham police officer was outside Richie Bells Village Wine & Liquor Tuesday writing a ticket on a double-parked car when two men accused of robbing the place came out to make their getaway -- in the same double-parked car.
Rashida Rivers, 24, and 18-year-old Supreme Hines, both from Yonkers, were charged with misdemeanor petty larceny and each was released on $200 bail. They are expected back in court Thursday night.
Police said the pair went into the liquor store at about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. A woman working at the shop called police while the suspects were inside. Police said Rivers, 24, tried to distract the worker as 18-year-old Supreme Hines took a bottle of Ciroc Vodka and put it into his bag.
The worker pretended to be preoccupied by a salesman on the phone, but in reality was speaking to police, who alerted the officer outside writing a ticket for the suspects' blue, 1991 Ford Focus.
