Readers Voice Opinions on Garbage, Taxes, Weather

PELHAM, N.Y. – The Daily Pelham's readers took to Facebook this week to voice their concerns about a number of issues affecting the town, including garbage collection, taxes and parking.

Michelle Parella Boyle said high taxes are one of the most important issues to her as a Pelham resident. She also wrote that she wants garbage to be picked up every week instead of twice a month and wants the town to accept credit card payment for bills. She added that she should be able to park in front of her house for more than two hours.

Reader Rachel Adams echoed Boyle's statements about trash pickup.

"The recycling is pretty time intensive and two weeks' worth for my small family of three takes up tremendous space," Adams wrote.

Lori Auletta Anzilotti chimed in about taxes but ended on a positive note by writing that "Pelham is the greatest place to live."

Weather was also a popular topic this week with five readers commenting about the official start of fall. Bryan Carroll said he is glad the colder months have arrived.

"Hottest July ever, wettest August ever," Carroll wrote. "I'm happy to see it go. Bring on the winter. Worst summer ever."

LaGravinese Jewelers took the opposite viewpoint and wrote they "would be glad to have a few more weeks of this 75 degree weather."

Boyle finished the weather conversation with her appreciation for the seasons.

"I am always tired of the hot weather and ready for the crisp and fresh fall weather," Boyle wrote. "It's great to have seasons. I would not like to live in Florida."
