Pelham Enjoys Sunny Skies After Weekend Rain

PELHAM, N.Y. – Pelham residents enjoyed sunny skies Monday after a weekend filled with rainy weather and gray skies. The temperature hovered just below 80 degrees as the sun shined.

Lois Soccodato works at Village Wine & Liquor on Fifth Avenue and is the daughter of Richie Bell, the owner of Pelham Produce Market, the oldest shop in Pelham. She said she was glad the weather has improved but wished it would have done so sooner.

"It's too bad it couldn't be like this yesterday when everybody was off," Soccodato said.

Soccodato said she and her husband went to a beach club Sunday, but the rainy weather shortened their stay. The couple worked in their garage instead, which she said was a fulfilling alternative.

"You feel accomplished," Soccodato said. "You put things off and you wait for the rainy days to get them done."

The National Weather Service calls for sunny and mostly clear skies until Wednesday night, when a few clouds will arrive. Thursday should be partly sunny, but the National Weather Service predicts a 40 percent chance of precipitation with the possibility of thunderstorms on Thursday night.

The weekend should be clear until Saturday night when the skies should be mostly cloudy. The National Weather Service calls for possible showers on Sunday with a 40 percent chance of precipitation.
