Lucy Lico, 81, Former Longtime Pelham Resident

PELHAM, N.Y. – Lucy R. Lico, a former resident of Pelham, died May 20 at Mercy Hospital of South Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y. She was 81.

Lico was born March 9, 1931, in Bronx, N.Y. She was married to Dr. Serrie R. Lico, who died in 1981. Lico graduated from New York University and later received a master's degree in education from Manhattanville College.

She traveled the world as a chief stewardess for Pan American Airways before she married and settled in Pelham to raise her children. She lived in Pelham for over 35 years.

Lico is survived by a son, Dr. Serrie C. (Jennifer) Lico; a daughter, Valerie A. (Richard) Price, Esq.; and four grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Pelham. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale. Pelham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

While in Buffalo, Lico befriended a nurse, Tracy Dougherty, whose daughter suffers from severe cerebral palsy, mental retardation and spastic quadriplegia. Memorial donations may be made to benefit Katlyn Dougherty at the Lucy R. Lico Memorial Fund .
