Former Pelham Shop Owner, Interdonato Dies at 88

PELHAM, N.Y. - Robert (Biagio) Interdonato, 88, a former Pelham business owner, died Jan. 29 in Clermont, Fla. after a five-year battle with dementia.

There will be a memorial service at 8:30 a.m. April 9 at the Sacred Heart Church in Dobbs Ferry.

Interdonato owned Style Rite Aluminum on Wolfs Lane from 1969-83, as well as several other home improvement stores throughout Westchester from the 1960s hrough '80s.

He was born Aug. 22, 1923 in the Bronx, N.Y. to Antonio and Costantina Fichera Interdonato. A decorated corporal in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, Interdonato was honorably discharged in February of 1946. While in the service, he entertained the generals, who compared him to Gene Kelly, in the USO with his fabulous dancing.

Interdonato's passion for dancing was showcased at family affairs, where he and his wife, Geraldine, would be the center of attention. Spending time with family was most important to him. He enjoyed taking his children to Old Timers baseball games, where they got to watch Joe DiMaggio, Whitey Ford, Yogi Bera and other baseball greats alongside their father.

A former resident of Sleepy Hollow and Yonkers, one of his favorite things to do was watch the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed fishing and during holiday breaks, he could be found playing bingo and board games with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; his daughter, Constance (Domenic) Lodolo of Dobbs Ferry; his sons, Anthony (Melinda) of Orlando, Fla. and Thomas of Yonkers; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Tommy (Gaetano).
