The program combines stories told in English and Spanish with music and games that help reinforce the learned vocabulary.

It is open to children from pre-K through third grade. It is free, and no registration is required. Refreshments are provided.

Bilingual Storytime is the brainchild of Michelle Simon, a local mother who lived in Spain until she was 11 years old. She leads the class as well.

“Kids are such natural learners that all we have to do is expose them to a new language and watch them absorb it,” said librarian for children’s services Lilly Hecker.
