Drawing students from across the county, the Future Filmmaker’s Festival spotlights short films from narrative, documentary, comedy, drama, and musical categories, wholly created and produced by Westchester County high school students. The festival culminates with an awards ceremony when the “Chester” – Westchester’s Oscar – will be awarded to the top three film submissions.

Festival submission guidelines require that students attend either an accredited Westchester County high school or bona fide county film program. Films cannot exceed 10 minutes and must be rated PG. This year, the Future Filmmaker’s Festival will coincide with the New York International Children’s Film Festival: Westchester, which is having its debut at The Picture House. The festival is from Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 26.

“We are so excited to once again be partnering with The Picture House and Westchester County. This festival has become a memorable and valued experience for all of us,” said Dale Hisiger, executive director of the Matthew S. Hisiger Film Foundation and former board member of The Picture House. “The Picture House’s strong education program provides people of all ages with the opportunity to experience the art of cinema as they haven’t before. The Future Filmmaker’s Festival is yet another extension of this vibrant programming.”

Tickets will be available at www.thepicturehouse.org and at The Picture House box office on the day of the event; cost is $7 for adults, $3 for students, and children under 5 are free. On Sunday, April 26, free parking is available on the street and at the Pelham Metro-North train station, which is within walking distance of The Picture House.
