WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. — Around six inches of snow could be on the ground from Yorktown to White Plains to Yonkers by the time a slow-moving storm takes its wintry weather out of the region Friday afternoon.

Snow will continue to fall from Peekskill to Greenburgh to Mt. Vernon Friday but some warmer weather is on the way.

Two to four inches could fall overnight, with another one to three inches falling through Friday afternoon, when the snow may turn to rain throughout Westchester County. Winds will reach about 15 mph inland and 20 mph with some higher gusts closer to the coast, the National Weather Service says.

A flood advisory is in effect for coastal areas through 10 a.m., Friday.

Temperatures will warm up into the high 40s over the weekend and creep up in the 50s during the beginning of the week, when the next storm may bring rain to the area, the National Weather Service says.
