WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Mount Vernon native Deajah Stevens finished with a second-place time of 22.30 in the 200 meters at the Olympic trials and will be the the first active woman in University of Oregon history to make Team USA.
Stevens, who will represent the country in the 2016 Rio Olympics, attended Benjamin Cardozo High School in Queens.
Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas touted Stevens' feat on Twitter, posting: "Congrats to Mount Vernon native Deajah Stevens on heading to the Olympics! #MountVernonHeadstoRio."
