Pelham Rugby Team Wins Two Straight League Titles

PELHAM, N.Y. – The Pelham Youth Rugby Club’s seventh-eighth grade tackle team defeated Ridgewood by 30 points on Sunday to capture its second consecutive Metropolitan New York Middle School League championship.

Pelham won, 35-5, to cap an undefeated season. The team is made up of Dan Biskup, Matt Biskup, James Cahill, Nick Roll, Jake Soifer, Luke Persanis, Quinn Scanlon, Matt Rabinowitz, Cian Burns, Kees Huisman, North Westall, Morgan Collins, Alex Calder, David Monaco, Whit Johnson, Xavier Worsely and Jack Weyndling.

The club’s sixth-seventh grade team also defeated Ridgewood, 25-20, on Sunday. Luke Persanis scored every try for Pelham in the game. This team is made up of Duffy Doyle, Alejandro Kahaner, Jean Vigroux, Luke Persanis, Sofia Imperato, Quinn Jenkins, Jack Fronce, Conner McNulty, Aiden Sisk, Adam Razick, James Bristow, Chris Davis, Woods Johnson, Cameron Ward and Tamio Shibasaki.
