PELHAM, N.Y. The Pelham Little League 11-under teams run through the sectional tournament finally came to an end after a nearly 24-hour delay .
Pelham lost, 6-1, to LaGrange at Cesca Field in West Nyack in the Section 4 Williamsport Tournament. The game started Monday night, but officials postponed it to Tuesday due to weather.
Pelham had trailed, 3-1, before the game resumed and LaGrange stretched that lead to knock Pelham out of the double elimination tournament. Pelham also lost to West Nyack on Saturday.
Head coach Dave Milanese said he was still pleased with his teams New York District 21 Little League Tournament championship.
Even though we are disappointed about being eliminated from the Section 4 tournament we are happy we had the opportunity to represent the district, Milanese said via email. As one of our parents said to me, Disappointing ending, but keeping it in perspective, a lot of teams were home and we were still playing. The boys should be proud of themselves. They are the District 21 champions - and no one can take that away from them.
The team will travel to Neshaminy, Pa., to play in the Neshaminy Wildcats Summer Classic from Friday, July 27 to Sunday, July 29.
