Now in its fifth year, the race is scheduled to begin at the Daronco Town House and Gazebo at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, according to the statement.
“With the support of Kinetic Sports Club, we can take it to the next level for the fifth annual race in 2016,” said Jason Jeffries, race director. “For the first time, we will offer prizes for top finishers, even better course markings, more pre-race facilities, a post-race party and can move the race to the Gazebo at the center of town.”
Jeffries continued to say that the race was a great kick-off to the holiday season.
Another development in this year’s race is that the half marathon course will be officially certified with USA Track and Field (USATF), meaning runners can officially set a world record, course record or a personal record.
Those who run certain times on an official USATF-certified course can also qualify for elite races, according to the statement.
According to organizers, top finishers this year will receive cash prizes, half marathon finishers will receive medals, and all runners will receive race T-shirts.
Registration for this year’s race is open and already attracting runners from across the world, according to organizers, who said a series of preview runs will take place before the race to familiarize people with the Pelham half marathon course.
Runners can find the schedule of preview runs on Burbio.com and the Pelham Half Marathon’s Facebook page.
Members and non-members of Kinetic Sports Club are invited to join the new Kinetic running club, which meets at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. Target distance for runs is between 4 and 5 miles.
