PELHAM, N.Y. Pelham resident Jennifer Bell achieved great success at the 2012 USA Diving Summer Junior Zone A Championships.
Bell finished among six divers who qualified in the three-meter springboard and platform/tower diving events to compete at the USA Diving Junior National Championships in Greensboro, N.C. on Aug. 5 and 6. Bell will compete against approximately 30 of the best divers from around the United States in her age range, each of whom qualified from their respective zones.
Bell trained for seven hours per day at the High Dive Champions Training Facility on the Purchase College, SUNY. She also trained with former U.S. Olympic Diving Team coach Dick Kimball and with High Dive Champions coach Michael G. Darland in the two weeks prior to the Zone A Championships.
The diver also qualified for and will compete in the Amateur Athletic Union Diving National Championships in Huntersville, N.C. She will compete in the one-meter springboard, three-meter springboard and platform/tower diving events.
USA Diving selects and trains athletes on the teams that represent the country in major events, including the Olympics. USA Diving championships are the pinnacle of diving competitions in the United States.
