PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Pace University's men's basketball senior Jamaal James and women's swimming and diving senior Kaitlyn Lynch have been named as SAAC Athletes of the Month of February by Pace University's athletics department.
James is a first-time honoree. Lynch is on this list for a second time this season.
James averaged 10.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in seven games in February. He shot 45.6 percent from the field. He had 16 points and seven rebounds in a win over Saint Rose. He also had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds against New Haven. He tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Adelphi.
Lynch was the top female swimmer as last month's Northeast-10 Conference Championships as she was named the NE-10 Female Swimmer of the Meet.
In addition, she garnered the Philip Hunsaker Collegeswimming.com Women's Division II Swimmer of the Week award.
Lynch won three gold medals at the meet, including setting an NE-10 Championships record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.17. She also won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke with times of 56.82 and 57.06. Her 100 fly time was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
She also earned an NCAA B cut time and set a school record of 56.55 in the 100 backstroke leading off the Setters 400 medley relay. Lynch also took home hardware in three different relays earning a silver medal in the 200 medley relay and bronze in the 400 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
