PELHAM, N.Y. -- The Pelham School District named five students as athletes of the week.
Senior Joe Liesman was named for varsity baseball with two hits in four at bats with two RBIs. He also pitched five innings allowing five hits and striking out five.
Junior Chaz DelGrosso was named for varsity baseball after a two game stretch in which he went three for seven with two RBIs and a run scored.
Senior Amairani Marin was named for varsity softball after scoring the 100th run of her career in an 18-3 win over Port Chester on May 4. In two wins this week, she went three for five with five walks and eight runs scored. She is currently batting .545 and the team is 10-4.
Freshman Charlotte Edmunds was named for varsity girls' lacrosse after a strong performance self-drawing and winning the draw every time helping the offense get ball control against Irvington. In Fridays game, Charlotte won the draw four times and also scored her first varsity career goal in a comeback win.
Senior Matt Nichuals was named for varsity boys' lacrosse. The senior captain had five goals and two assists in three games. He was also a true two way middle both offensively, defensively combining for 17 ground balls. In two wins last week they finished with 32 goals and Nichauls was the catalyst for much of the offense that yielded the best output all season.
