With a vote of 733 to 153, voters approved Proposition One, which includes a $6.28 million plan that will replace antiquated roofs across the district’s three buildings. Proposition B, which passed 608 to 278, includes an expansion to the middle and high school that will add eight new classrooms.

According to the Rye Neck school district’s bond presentation, a Rye Town home assessed at $835,000 will see tax increases peak in 2021-22 at $144 for Proposition One and $376 for Proposition Two. Rye City residents’ taxes will peak at $345 for Proposition One and $896 for Proposition Two at a fall valued home assessed at $2.1 million.

“Thank you to all residents who participated in the vote,” Board of Education President Patty Nashelsky said. “Through your approval, we will be able to greatly enhance the educational experience and development of our students. The improvements to our academic and athletic facilities at the combined middle/high school campus will benefit generations of kids and families in our community.

"We will also be able to make urgent roof replacements at all of our schools. We truly appreciate everyone who took the time to learn about the proposal and offer feedback. Your feedback created a referendum that balanced improvements for our community with fiscal responsibility. We will continue to keep the community updated as we move through the project approval and construction process.”
