PELHAM, N.Y. Students at Prospect Hill Elementary School participated in picture day outside the school on Wednesday. Some children prepared for their shots before school with new clothes and hair styles.
Karyn Nordstrom, who has two children at the school, was present when her children got their pictures taken. The importance of the day to her daughter, Emma, could not be understated.
"I had to reschedule my kid's doctor's appointment around picture day because she didn't want to miss it," Nordstrom said.
Nordstrom said she fought with her son for a half hour in the morning because he wanted to pick out his own clothes. After she dressed him, he tried to sneak a T-shirt and athletic shorts into his backpack to change into at school.
Nordstrom said the scene at picture day "was abuzz with excitement and enthusiasm."
Clarissa Rosado, who has two daughters in first grade and third grade, said her children were looking forward to having their pictures taken and that the process went smoothly.
That is, once they arrived at school. Like the Nordstroms, the Rosados had some difficulties in the morning.
"They got dressed up and hair was a big issue," Rosado said.
