PELHAM, N.Y. - Pelham's PACT will hold its last "Family Time" of the school year next month when families are encouraged to eat together.
Research shows that eating together creates an environment in which youth are less likely to use alcohol, drugs or engage in other risky behaviors, PACT says on its website .
The "Family Time" will be Tuesday, June 11. On that night, all students in kindergarten through fifth grade will not have homework so they can instead spend time with their families.
PACT - Parents and Community Together - was established in 1997 as a consortium of parents, educators and community leaders in Pelham who were concerned about the health and safety issues facing youth. The group provides middle and high school parents with support to guide youth to be substance free.
