The schools initially entered lockout on Friday morning while police searched for a suspect who fled after injuring an officer at East Lincoln Avenue and Station Place in Mount Vernon.

"I was just informed by local law enforcement that our buildings may come out of lockout.  All students and staff are safe and happy," tweeted Pelham Schools Superintendent Peter Giarrizzo.

In another Tweet, he added, "Specific info, if any, about dismissal and activities will be forthcoming from your building principals. Have a great weekend, Pelicans!"

While the schools have been released from lockout, there is no indication at this time that a suspect has been apprehended.
