The school board has approached this year’s budget season by scheduling study sessions at board meetings and outings at restaurants to clear up confusion about the spending plan, provide the board and community with information and have ongoing conversation with the community to hear what’s on their mind.

The first gathering takes place at Four Corners Bakery, 4668 Boston Post Road at 9:30 a.m.

School board member and Budget Committee Chair Madeline Smith said the events have an open-minded approach.

“These informal gatherings are open to everyone and we continue to encourage parents and residents to come with their thoughts, questions and concerns with respect to any school-related matters, including the budget, as noted on our Facebook page,” she said on the Pelham school district website.

The event is put on by the board’s Community Engagement Committee.

The next two gatherings are scheduled from Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rockwells, 105 Wolfs Lane, and March 15 at 9:30 a.m. at Mad Café, 129 Wolfs Lane.
