Pelham Memorial HS Wins Awards, Nominations From National Youth Arts

PELHAM, N.Y. -- National Youth Arts has announced Pelham Memorial High School as one of the Eastern region winners of the ninth annual National Youth Arts Awards for its theater performances.

PMHS received nine awards, plus an additional 11 nominations. Covering the year ranging from spring 2013 through spring 2014, three productions were eligible for consideration: "Fiddler on the Roof," "All in the Timing" and "The Drowsy Chaperone."

This year's recipients were selected from nominations by a panel of more than twenty-five judges and reviewers. The award ceremony will be held in August in Riverdale, N.Y.

PMHS was awarded the following: 

Outstanding production: "The Drowsy Chaperone"

Lead actor in a musical: Noah Peck as Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof"

Lead actor in a musical: Joe Viola as Man in Chair in "The Drowsy Chaperone"

Lead actress in a musical: Sarah Liddy as The Drowsy

Chaperone in "The Drowsy Chaperone"

Lead actress in a musical: Sara Romanello as Janet Van De Graaff in "The Drowsy Chaperone"

Supporting actress in a musical: Kyra Tantao as Tzeitel in "Fiddler on the Roof"

Outstanding ensemble: "The Drowsy Chaperone"

Musical direction: Maria Abeshouse for "Fiddler on the Roof"

Direction: Thomas F. Beck, Jr. for "The Drowsy Chaperone"
