Limato Named Principal at Pelham's Prospect Hill

PELHAM, N.Y. – Administrator Richard Limato will become the new principal at Prospect Hill Elementary, said a statement announcing the principal assignments for the four Pelham elementary schools for 2012-13.

Limato will replace Robert Roelle, who in April was named as the successor for the retiring Joseph Longobardi as principal of Pelham Middle School. Limato currently serves as the director of elementary education, but that position was cut during the budget process. He had previously served as the principal at Prospect Hill.

Superintendent Dennis Lauro reached the decision “after meeting with the four elementary principals to ascertain their goals and objectives for next year,” the statement said.

Tonya Wilson will remain as the principal at Colonial Elementary. Carla Tarazi will stay at Hutchinson Elementary, and Susan Gilbert will continue at Siwanoy Elementary.

“We have a great team of principals and have been reassured of their commitment to the improvement of teaching and learning,” Lauro said in announcing the decision.

“They will continue to move the district ahead by working closely with all stakeholders to implement the new common core standards and a new evaluation system for teachers,” Lauro said in the statement.

As a result of a change in the administrative structure, Peter Giarizzo, assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, and personnel, will take on “all responsibilities” once designated to the directors of elementary and secondary education, Lauro said.

Giarizzo will “work closely with the building principals and supervisors to ensure the continuity of our curriculum,” Lauro said.
