South Jersey Man Admits Weapons Offense, Trespassing: Prosecutor

A 20-year-old Galloway Township man has pleaded guilty to possessing a handgun and trespassing, authorities said.

Jalen Torres is expected to be sentenced to an aggregate term of five years in New Jersey State Prison, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Torres is scheduled to be sentenced on June 5.

On July 21, 2022, law enforcement officers  planned to execute a search warrant on Torres’ townhome.

Prior to the search, officers saw Torres and apprehended him. Torres was found to be in possession of a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun which was loaded and concealed in his sock.  

Torres did not have a permit to purchase a handgun or a permit to carry a handgun, the prosecutor said.

Torres also pleaded guilty to trespassing. He was observed rummaging through a parked vehicle in July 2021.
