Officers were called to the outside of Superior Supermarket at 42 Woodward Ave. on a report of an armed male fighting with another male, police said. Upon arrival, officers found people standing around a victim, who had a cut to his right hand and an abrasion on his face, according to police.
Officers later found the suspect, Milton Mejia, 23, hiding behind the supermarket in a car, police said. Officers found that Mejia had a razor knife, but they did not find any other weapons in his possession, police said.
While he was being placed under arrest, Mejia kicked an officer several times, police said. He also gave a false date of birth, police said.
Mejia was charged with second-degree assault, criminal impersonation and assault on a peace officer. His bond was set at $50,000 with a court date of March 8.
Mejia was also arrested on charges stemming from a 2015 assault, including third-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. For those charges, Mejia's bond was set at $20,000 for a March 8 court date.
