Their art work is part of a giant painted mural created by students who participate in the gifted art program at Haskell School.
About 55 students in grades 5-8 created, designed, illustrated and painted the 5-foot-by-10-foot canvas depicting their theme “No Home for Polar Bear."
Haskell School is one of 100 schools in the United States to have received a free canvas from the Wyland Foundation in order to participate.
Last year, 3,500 students participated in the contest.
The Wyland Foundation is dedicated to promoting, protecting and preserving the world’s ocean, waterways and marine life. Founded by environmental artist Wyland, the Wyland Foundation has helped children and families around the nation to rediscover the importance of healthy oceans and waterways through public art programs, classroom science education and live events.
