Fair Lawn Toy Drive Touches Organizer's Heart

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Susan Devine believes it's better to give than to receive, so she's running this year's holiday toy drive for the Fair Lawn Mental Health Center.

The drive is aimed at helping children and teens in foster care who are dealing with mental illness and depression.

Devine, who runs a real estate agency in Fair Lawn, has organized the toy drive for years.

"This cause is close to my heart because a family member of mine suffered with mental illness," she said.

"I want to raise awareness for this complicated illness as well as contribute in any way that I can," Devine said. "I want to bring joy to all the children who suffer and who are in foster care. I believe the community will feel good about making donations, too."

Donors can bring unwrapped toys for children ages 1 to 18. Gift cards are also acceptable.

Devine will collect the toys at her office at 24-19 Fair Lawn Ave. in the Radburn Shopping Center.

Items can be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays until Dec. 14.
