Brian Savard, athletic communications director for the State University of New York at New Paltz, where Spader swam competitively for the Hawks, said Spader finished his collegiate career with a 3.32 cumulative grade point average. The 2015 SUNY graduate majored in sociology and communications.
Both of SUNY New Paltz women's and men's swim teams were named Scholar All-America this past season by achieving a team-wide GPA of over 3.0 during the spring 2015 semester.
A total of 151 NCAA Division III women's programs and 99 Division III men's teams received the accolade.
The SUNY New Paltz women's swim team posted a GPA of 3.23 this spring, while the male swimmers earned a 3.15 grade point average.

The New Paltz women finished third at the 2015 State University of New York Athletic Conference Championships, while the men placed fourth.
