Nathaniel Johnson, 61, Of Stamford, Vietnam Veteran

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Nathaniel Johnson of Stamford died on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Stamford Hospital. He was 61.

He was born in Eutawville, South Carolina, on May 28, 1953, to Levi and Mary Simpson Johnson.

Nathaniel was a devout Jehovah's Witness. He worked at Clairol for 37 years before his retirement and was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Washington Johnson of Stamford; his children, Eythan Johnson of Stamford, Nigel Johnson of Norwalk and Ashley Johnson of Stamford; six siblings; two uncles; two aunts; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Nathaniel was predeceased by a sister, Magdelan "Maggie" Simpson, and a brother, Sammy Johnson. 

Family and friends may call at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, on Sunday, Jan. 25, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 611 Fairfield Ave., Stamford.
