The Democratic State Committee launched a petition and Facebook ads Friday to release five years of 1040 returns, according to the report. State officials and political candidates are not required to release their tax information. Most however, do so to provide transparency.

Astorino said he is collecting his tax returns, and will release them on Monday. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Astorino’s opponent in November, has released his returns since  2006.
