Rebekah Mercer, a billionaire conservative donor, and Yorktown native is done with Steve Bannon, former White House Chief Strategist.

Mercer, a graduate of Yorktown High School, issued a statement Thursday saying she hasn't spoken to Bannon in months. Mercer was a major investor in Breitbart.com, the right-wing news site Bannon runs.

"I support President Trump and the platform upon which he was elected," Mercer said. "My family and I have not communicated with Steve Bannon in many months and have provided no financial support to his political agenda, nor do we support his recent actions and statements."

The move comes after Bannon trashed President Donald Trump's family in a new book. Trump responded by harshly criticizing Bannon in a statement.

Bannon alienated the Mercer with his talk of running for president in 2020, his moves in the Alabama senate race and other comments he made, according to the Washington Post.

The move was praised by Trump on Twitter.

"The Mercer Family recently dumped the leaker known as Sloppy Steve Bannon," Trump tweeted. "Smart!

The Mercer family, led by Robert, who worked for IBM and later at a hedge fund, has become an influential name in conservative circles, donating millions to the presidential candidacies of Ted Cruz and Donald Trump and other right-wing causes. Robert Mercer recently donated $1 million to a SuperPAC for County Executive Rob Astorino's unsuccessful reelection campaign.

Rebekah has been described as the most prominent woman in Republican politics while another daughter, Heather, kicked field goals for Yorktown High School and later sued Duke University for discrimination when she attempted to play for the football team.
