The first incident occurred around 9:12 p.m. when officers responded to 77 Locust Hill Ave., for a report that a man had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found an 18-year-old male resident of Yonkers with a non-life threatening single gunshot wound to the buttocks, said Sgt. Dean Politopoulos.

Officers rendered medical aid until the victim was transported to a local area hospital, he added.

A preliminary investigation by the Major Case Squad found that the victim was loitering on a street corner when a vehicle pulled up and several suspects exited; one of the suspects displayed a firearm and fired several shots in the direction of the victim, striking him one time. The suspects then fled the area in the vehicle and the police were called.

Investigators are following up leads, including information that the victim may have been possibly targeted by the suspects, Politopoulos said.

The second incident took place at 10:36 p.m. when officers received a report of a stabbing in the vicinity of Downing Street at Riverdale Avenue.

Upon arrival officers located a victim, a teenage male resident of Yonkers, with several non-life threatening stab wounds to his body. Officers rendered medical aid until the victim was transported to a local area hospital, police said.

The victim told officers that he was standing in the lobby of a nearby apartment building – not his residence – when a dispute began between himself and several others; the dispute escalated to violence and the victim was assaulted, Politopoulos said.

Detectives are investigating this incident, interviewing subjects and canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance; detectives are also examining evidence to corroborate the victim’s account, he said.

Politopoulos added that over the past several weeks, the Yonkers Police have responded to several incidents of violence and that everyone is being investigated: "The safety of our citizens is the priority for the Yonkers Police Department, and we want to assure the community that everything is being done to apprehend the responsible parties."
