Victim, Suspect ID'd In Fatal Midday Stabbing In Downtown Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - Yonkers police have apprehended and now identified suspect believed to be responsible for Monday afternoon’s fatal stabbing.

According to police, Joseph Graham, a 36-year-old Yonkers resident, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter after allegedly stabbing 49-year-old Clarence Vanhook shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday at 5 S. Broadway (Route 9) in his torso.

Graham reports to reside at 354 Nepperhan Ave., police said. Vanhook lived at 1 Hudson St., according to police.

At approximately 4:07 p.m., police responded to the location and observed a man matching the description of a potential suspect walking on North Broadway. He was then brought into custody and interviewed while members of the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene for more evidence.

Later on Monday night, Graham was charged. According to police, the initial investigation has revealed that Graham and Vanhook were in a physical confrontation at the scene of the crime before the stabbing took place.
