Small Fire Forces Evacuation Of Pelham Manor Apartment Building

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. -- A stack of burning books in an elevator room drew fighters from two departments to a Wynnewood Road building late Thursday, March 3. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters had little trouble extinguishing the blaze, which created a thick smoke condition at 915 Wynnewood Road about 11:30 p.m., according to a witness.

Those living inside the building were all safely evacuated as firefighters from Pelham and Pelham Manor handled the scene.
