Police: Burglary Suspect Entered Westchester Home After Breaking In Garage

Police in Scarsdale are investigating the latest village burglary, that saw a suspect make off with a “large amount of jewelry" after forcing entry through the garage.

Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department were dispatched to a Tisdale Road home at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 17, where there was a report from a homeowner of a burglary in the place.

Upon arrival, officers canvased the area and home, and the scene was cleared. Police said that the homeowners had been away all day, and came home to find the side door wide open.

According to police, further investigation determined that a large amount of jewelry, antique coins and other property was missing. Investigators noted that a jewelry box was taken out from behind the living room curtain, which was also missing. Among the items taken were a diamond engagement ring and gold wedding band with an estimated value of more than $20,000. In total, the suspect stole approximately $45,000 in property.

Police said that it was determined that the suspect gained entry by forcing through the garage side window, specifically the lower pane, which was broken and opened. The suspect left through the front side door, which was found open by the victim’s daughter when she returned home.
