Pelham Police: Man Stole Gas From Mobil Station

PELHAM, N.Y. – The Pelham Police Department is looking for a man who they say filled up his car with $69.70 worth of gas without paying on Thursday at 1:22 p.m. The incident, which happened at the Mobil station on Lincoln Avenue, involved a black man, said to be wearing a black t-shirt, plaid shorts and flip-flops, driving an older model tan or gold Ford, police said.

After pumping his car with gas, the man walked into the Mobil building and attempted to use the ATM, police said. When his card did not work, police said the female attendant said he could pay at the register, but while swiping, his card said it had no money on it and he fled.

Police said the man got into his car and drove north to First Avenue and then the Hutchinson River Parkway. The attendant copied down his license plate number and called the Pelham Police Department.

A DMV check was conducted, but it came back to a 2004 Volkswagen Passat. The attendant allowed officers to look at the recordings, which confirmed the attendant’s story, police said. There are two cameras overlooking the pump area, but police said they were not working.

Pelham Police Department also reported:

A Pelham resident called the police department on Friday because of an alarm in the area of Boulevard West at 11:42 p.m. Once police arrived, they checked the building the alarm was emitting from and said it appeared secure.
