Mount Vernon Police Investigating Fatal Monday Morning Shooting

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - Police are pursuing a suspect or suspects after a Monday morning shooting left a 24-year-old man dead in Mount Vernon.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Monday, members of the Mount Vernon Police Department were dispatched to a Washington Street residence, where there were reports of a man who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

According to Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas, officers discovered 24-year-old Trevon Boswell, who was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Thomas said that the shooting remains under investigation, and he vowed to utilize whatever technology and methods necessary to attempt to curtail violence in Mount Vernon.

“The city mourns the loss of this young man’s life,” he said. “We cannot allow violence to tear apart families and communities. Earlier today, I spoke with City Council President Roberta Apuzzo, and shared with her, my administration’s continued commitment to investments in public safety technology.”
