Man Stopped On I-95 Had BAC Nearly Triple Legal Limit, Police Say

State Police announced Tuesday that Jorge Escobar, 29, was arrested on Sunday when he was stopped by troopers who determined he was driving while under the influence.

According to police, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night, state police stopped Escobar on I-95 in New Rochelle. A subsequent investigation determined that the driver was heavily intoxicated. Escobar was arrested and processed in New Rochelle, where his blood alcohol content was registered at .21 percent.

Escobar was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and a traffic violation. He was turned over to a sober third party and is due back in court on Friday, Jan. 27.
