Four Suffer Smoke Inhalation In New Rochelle Multi-Family Home Fire

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Four residents suffered injuries and were hospitalized overnight after a fire broke out in a multi-family New Rochelle home on Monday.

Shortly before midnight on Monday, firefighters responded to a Horton Avenue home, where a fire had broken out at the three-story residence. Three residents were taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment, and the fourth was transported to Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle after suffering from smoke inhalation.

According to fire officials, the fire was knocked down within a half hour, though crews remained on scene as a precaution against flare-ups. Three of the four residents have been released from the hospital. Several apartments in the building suffered from smoke and water damage as firefighters battled the blaze, but all residents have been able to return home.
